Why Choose a Soundsphere Loudspeaker
Q: We have two big speakers mounted on the walls of our gym. When we use the sound system, there is so much echo that we can’t understand what is being said. The system installer says we need more speakers and more amplifiers, but the cost is way over our budget. Do you have any ideas?
A: Adding more speakers to your system will not necessarily raise speech intelligibility. In all likelihood, it will be further degraded. A single Soundsphere Q-12A in the center of the room will produce even coverage of voice and quality music at high sound pressure levels. A single, central source is the best solution for good speech intelligibility in a reverberant environment like your gym. You should be able to use the existing amplifier, and the reasonable cost fo the installed Soundsphere speaker should meet your budget requirements.
"This Gym Rocks" – Soundsphere Provides Big Sound for a Big Place
Attendees of games and other events at Warren Woods Tower High School’s gymnasium in Warren, Michigan, just weren’t getting the message. The large gymnasium’s sound system consisted of horn loudspeakers that delivered poor speech intelligibility and inadequate music reproduction.
Premier Sound & Communications, Inc. met the challenge of designing and installing a new sound system that would produce high quality speech intelligibility and full range music in what was one of the largest gymnasiums they had ever encountered. They chose to utilize four Soundsphere Q-12A loudspeakers to cover the large bleacher sections and game floor completely. One Q-SB2 subwoofer was included to produce the extended low frequency response required for the music common in today’s sports venues.
Since no complex physical alignments are required to produce excellent results with Soundsphere loudspeakers, the installation was completed quickly with minimal disruption to daily gymnasium activities. Premier Sound’s senior audio engineer, Dave Cenkner, says, "Equalization, using a real–time analyzer, completed the installation with the final result being a clean, natural sound. The Soundsphere speaker system, mated to high quality electronics, produced astounding results."
Rober D. Livernois, Ph.D., Warren Woods Tower High School’s Principal, rates the system and installation as "Outstanding!... The Soundsphere system reproduces human voice and music incredibly well. This, in turn, has had a positive effect on fan participation, as they can hear things so clearly."
