This full-range bi-amplified, two-way system incorporates a single 12 inch low frequency cone transducer and two neodymium compression drivers, coupled to a Serpis-112 plane wave generator, providing coherent summing of high frequencies and is made of polypropylene. The low frequency loudspeakers have an injection molded aluminum chassis and a three inch voice coil. The high frequency voice coil is two inches in diameter and has a titanium diaphragm.
A typical production unit has the following specifications:
The on-axis frequency range is from 63 Hz to 18 kHz and the system comprises a twin channel class AB amplifier for the highs and a class D amplifier for the lows. The nominal power handling of the low frequency amplifier is 500 W (RMS). The nominal power handling of the mid-high amplifier is 100 W (RMS). Included in the electronics package is the active crossover, signal processing, limitation and protection circuitry. The amplifier requires no external heat sinks nor forced air ventilation and is located at the rear panel to ease replacement if it should breakdown. The system incorporates an equalization selector for high frequencies located on the rear panel. A three-position transformer varies the high frequency response, depending on the number of units used in the array. This transformer can also be used to adapt the high frequency "throw" of each unit within a line array. It comprises balanced output and input sockets using XLR connectors. The disconnectable mains inlet is a Powercon NAC 3 cable and it includes a power output link, allowing up to eight units to be daisy-chained at 230V. It includes the following LED indicators: a limit indicator (a light indicates that the amplifiers are overloaded,) a signal indicator (a light indicates that there is an input signal from the amplifiers) and an ON indicator (a light indicates that each channel of the amplifier is switched on.)
The system is mounted inside a 7.5° trapezoidal bass-reflex cabinet using 15mm Birch plywood. Each unit is finished in black or white paint. The front is protected by an aluminum grille, coated with a corrosion-resistant polyamide film and covered with acoustically transparent speaker cloth. The system incorporates integrated steel and aluminum flying fixtures, designed to ensure safe, easy and rapid flying of each unit by means of high resistance release pins. Splay angles can be adjusted from 12° to 15° in one degree steps. There is also a computer application available for designing arrays.
The system shall be a D.A.S. VARIANT 112A system.
