Aero Sound in Florida
On July 2nd and 3rd, the company Advanced Audio Co, directed by Jose Nazario, installed a powered Aero 28A line array system at the biggest American Independence Day event, held at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This event (Red Hot & Boom), organized by the City of Altamonte Springs and the radio station XL106.7 FM in Orlando, required both complex logistics and set-up since the system needed to be installed on a floating floor at 150 feet from the audience. According to Jose Nazario, "D.A.S. systems once again proved their versatility for an event on such a scale, which this year attracted an audience of some 100,000 people."
For the P.A system a total of 24 Aero 28A and 12 CA-215A bass systems were used and two relay towers at the back of the stage were equipped with eight CA-28A and four CA-215A modules. As Jose Nazario explains, "The Aero systems gave us the necessary coverage and SPL for the entire main area. The system was flown 17 ft.-0 in. from the floor, just like the delay towers at the back of the stage which were comprised of four Aero 28A modules at a height of 17 ft.-0 in. and two stacked CA-215A modules."
On stage four Compact 115 and four Compact Sub 18 systems were combined for stereo side fill and drum fill. Stage monitoring was handled by eight ST-015 monitors and Lab Gruppen amplifiers. Nazario adds, "The performance of the stage monitoring system was praised by all of the guest bands including; The Click Five, Rooney, Katharine McPhee and Elliot Yamin from American Idol, LLoyd, Melissa Jiménez, Kat Deluna, The Last Good Night and Saving Jane."
In addition to the P.A. system, several delay zones were set up using eight DS-115A units so as to complement sound reinforcement during the fireworks show. Jose Nazario adds, "This event once again confirmed the quality of D.A.S. equipment, especially since it was exposed to two consecutive days of heavy rainfall.
The systems responded to the technical demands of the event the whole time. The Aero system passed an important test, showing its response to big SPL requirements such as a firework show on this magnitude. A number one priority for the event organizers was to maintain the high volume of sound across the park during the firework show and the D.A.S systems performed at 200% to achieve exactly this." The technical team included Jose Nazario- FOH / System Engineer, Rafael Rios – Mon / System Tech, David Murillo – Mon / System tech, Ralf Cotto / Eli Muniz / Gam Pagan – Assistant techs.
