Aero is Back in Miami
For the ninth year running, the legendary Ultra Music Festival was held in Miami. Despite the heavy rain during the event, the powered Aero line array performed effortlessly on all four stages where the systems were installed as the PA system. The two-day Ultra 2007 was held at the Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. The festival, which ran alongside the Miami Winter Music Conference, featured live acts including The Cure, Shiny Toy Guns, Miss Kittin, Brazilian Girls and Rabbit In The Moon + DJ’s Fat Boy Slim, Carl Cox and Kruder & Dorfmeisterl sabado, among others. The powered bass system shall incorporate two 18 inch cone low frequency transducer. The frame of the low frequency speakers shall be manufactured of die-cast aluminium. The low frequency voice coil shall be 4 inches in diameter.

The system specifications of a typical production unit shall be as follows: Nominal on-axis frequency response shall be of 40 Hz to 140 Hz. Nominal maximum peak SPL shall be 140 dB SPL.

The system’s low frequency driver shall be mounted as direct radiator into a bass-reflex cabinet constructed of composite plywood. It shall be finished with hardwearing catalyzed polyurethane paint. The front of the system shall be protected with a perforated steel grille, sealed against corrosion using a polyamide powder coat finish, and covered with acoustically transparent fabric. Four handles and transport wheels shall be provided. 10M Hanging points shall be provided on the top, bottom, and sides of the enclosure.

The system shall feature a class-D amplifier. Nominal power output shall be 1000 WRMS. The amplifier shall contain protection systems. The built-in active equalised low-pass filter shall provide a 24 dB/octave slope. The input shall be electronically balanced on an XLR connector, and an output XLR loop through connector shall also be provided. AC connection shall be through a detachable PowerCon NAC 3 cable. Display LEDs shall be provided.

The system shall be a D.A.S. Compact 218 SUB.
