The Compact 115 is a powered three-way full range system which provides a complete sound reinforcement solution in a single, easy to use package. This versatile biamplified system incorporates two Class D switching amplifiers for the low and mid-high frequency sections. The Compact 115 is designed for use in applications where midrange presence and pattern control are required. This self-powered system is designed to provide full-range response without the need for bass reinforcement.

A special 15 in. cone transducer handles low frequency reproduction. The 8-MN cone transducer is the latest mid-range device designed by D.A.S. High frequencies are handled by the outstanding M-10N neodymium driver. This compression driver uses a 3 in. titanium diaphragm, copper clad aluminum EFW voice coil and a 1.5 in. exit throat. Installations:

Aero Sound in Florida
On July 2nd and 3rd, the company Advanced Audio Co, directed by Jose Nazario, installed a powered Aero 28A line array system at the biggest American Independence Day event, held at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This event (Red Hot & Boom), organized by the City of Altamonte Springs and the radio station XL106.7 FM in Orlando, required both complex logistics and set-up since the system needed to be installed on a floating floor at 150 feet from the audience. According to Jose Nazario, "D.A.S. systems once again proved their versatility for an event on such a scale, which this year attracted an audience of some 100,000 people."  Read More...

The 3-way full range powered loudspeaker shall incorporate a 15 inch cone low frequency transducer, a 8 inch cone mid frequency transducer coupled to a polymer horn, and a 1.5 inch throat compression driver mounted to a constant directivity horn. The frame of the low frequency speaker shall be manufactured of die-cast aluminium. The low frequency voice coil shall be 4 inches in diameter. The mid frequency voice coil shall be 2.5 inches in diameter. The high frequency voice coil shall be 3 inches in diameter and the diaphragm shall be constructed of titanium. All transducers shall use Neodymium magnets.

The system specifications of a typical production unit shall be as follows: IEC on-axis frequency range shall be of 37 Hz to 17 kHz. Rated maximum peak SPL shall be 133 dB SPL. Coverage angles shall be 80 degrees horizontal and 80 degrees vertical (average of 1/3rd octave bands from 500 to 8 kHz).

The system’s low frequency driver shall be mounted as direct radiator into a bass-reflex cabinet constructed of 16 mm Wisa(R) Birch plywood. It shall be finished with hardwearing catalyzed polyurethane paint. The front of the system shall be protected with a perforated steel grille, sealed against corrosion using a polyamide powder coat finish, and covered with acoustically transparent fabric. Three handles and two transport wheels shall be provided. Flying points shall be provided in the form of a dual Ancra Track/eyebolt based system. The top panel of the enclosure shall provide two Ancra tracks. 10M Hanging points shall be provided on the top of the enclosure.

The system shall feature two class-D amplifier for the mid-high and low frequencies. Nominal power output for the low frequency amplifier shall be 500 WRMS. Nominal power output for the mid-high frequency amplifier shall be 500 WRMS. Maximum amplifier efficiencies shall reach 93%. The amplifiers shall contain protection systems. The built-in active 2-way equalised crossover shall provide 24 dB/octave slopes. The input shall be electronically balanced on an XLR connector, and an output XLR loop through connector shall also be provided. AC connection shall be through a detachable PowerCon NAC 3 cable. Display LEDs shall be provided.

The system shall be a D.A.S. Compact 115.
