The CA-28B is a non-powered two-way active compact line array module designed for use with external amplification. Two 8MN16, 8" cone transducers incorporating neodymium magnetic assemblies and 2.5" (62 mm) voice coils are used for mid frequency reproduction. High frequency reproduction is handled by the M-10N medium format compression driver using a 3" (73 mm) titanium diaphragm, copper clad aluminum EFW voice coil and a 1.5" exit throat coupled to a SERPIS high frequency plane wave generator.

The CA-28 trapezoidal shape and rear located splay angle adjusters maintains the front spacing the same, providing the array with a "seamless" front baffle, for improved array performance. The easily portable and rugged trapezoidal enclosure incorporates all the rigging hardware and fittings needed to join one box to another.

Flying hardware is integral to the box and provides for splay angles from 0 to 10 degrees in 2.5 degree increments, hinge points being located on the front for seamless arraying.

The 2-way full range passive loudspeaker for biamplified use shall incorporate a two 8 inch cone low frequency transducers and a 1.5 inch throat driver coupled to an aluminium plane wave adaptor mounted to a horn. The frame of the low frequency speakers shall be manufactured of die-cast aluminium. The low frequency voice coil shall be 2.5 inches in diameter. The high frequency voice coil shall be 3 inches in diameter and the diaphragm shall be constructed of titanium. All transducers shall use Neodymium magnets.

The system specifications of a typical production unit shall be as follows: Average (RMS) power handling shall be 350W for the low frequency section and 100W for the high frequency section. IEC on-axis frequency range shall be of 80 Hz to 20 kHz. On-axis sensitivity (1W / 1m) shall be 100 dB SPL for the low frequency section and 110 dB SPL for the high frequency section. Nominal impedance shall be 8 ohms for the low frequency section and 8 ohms for the high frequency section.

The system"s low frequency drivers shall be mounted as direct radiators into a bass-reflex cabinet constructed of Wisa(R) plywood. It shall be finished with hardwearing catalyzed polyurethane paint. Two hand locations shall be provided. The front of the system shall be protected with a perforated steel grille, sealed against corrosion using a polyamide powder coat finish, and covered with acoustically transparent fabric. The system has built-in rigging hardware for hanging into line array format. Computer software for line array design is available.

The system shall be a D.A.S. CA-28B.
