The CA-28A is a powered, bi-amplified, two-way compact line array module designed for use in multi-box arrays. The easily portable and rugged trapezoidal enclosure incorporates all the rigging hardware and fittings needed to join one box to another. The CA-28A’s trapezoidal shape and rear located splay angle adjusters keep the front spacing between adjacent elements the same, providing the array with a "seamless" front baffle, for improved array performance.
Two purpose-built 8MN16, 8 in. cone transducers incorporating neodymium magnetic assemblies and 2.5 in. (62 mm) voice coils are used for mid frequency reproduction. These rugged, yet lightweight components provide high output and the unique Total Air Flux (T.A.F.) cooling schemes minimize power compression resulting from voice coil heat buildup.
High frequency reproduction is handled by the outstanding M-10N medium format compression driver which uses a 3 in. (73 mm) titanium diaphragm, copper clad aluminum EFW voice coil and a 1.5 in. exit throat coupled to a SERPIS high frequency plane wave generator. This high efficiency, low distortion unit incorporates a neodymium magnet structure generator. The DAS designed device ensures accurate high frequency summing and the generation of a flat, isophasic wave front for the high frequency section.
Flying hardware is integral to the box and provides for splay angles from 0 to 10 degrees in 2.5 degree increments, hinge points being located on the front for seamless arraying.

Jazz by the Boulevard Festival resonates with D.A.S. "Depending upon who was performing at any given time," notes Horn, "the crowds ranged from two to three thousand spectators all the way up to about ten thousand. There were people everywhere and because of this, the ability of the sound system to throw far and wide was absolutely critical. For this reason, we deployed a line array system that consisted of sixteen D.A.S. Audio Aero CA-28A self-powered loudspeaker enclosures–flown eight per side. These were augmented by eight D.A.S. CA-215A self-powered subwoofers, which were positioned on stage, four per side, aligned directly underneath the flown CA-28A clusters." Read More...
